The future looks bright for those who are looking to nab a great TV in 2023 at a substantial discount. Although a fresh slate of new models was announced at CES 2023, it might be a while until any of those arrive and receive any significant discounts. However, you don’t have to wait to land a great deal on a mid- or high-end TV from LG, TCL, Hisense, or Amazon’s own Fire TV brand, as many of the flagship models from last year are currently selling for hundreds of dollars less than their original list price.

Right now, there are a number of discounted 4K TVs to choose from, spanning a wide variety of prices, size configurations, and feature sets. Whether you want a secondary TV for the bedroom or a high-end OLED that’s built for a cinema-like experience, we’ve picked out the best TV deals across some common categories.

The TCL 6-Series R646 model has a Mini LED QLED panel with HDR10 Plus support and 4K gaming at 120Hz via HDMI 2.1 as well as hands-free Google Assistant voice commands and the Google TV interface that offers all major streaming apps. It’s a good option if you are looking to balance price and performance, and the 55-inch model is currently on sale at Best Buy and Amazon for $599.99 ($50 off), which is the lowest price on the popular 6-Series model. The Hisense U8H is another great value for a moderately priced Mini LED. The 4K TV can render some impressive peak levels of brightness and offers up to 120Hz for your gaming needs; it also supports HDMI 2.1 on two of its four ports. Plus, it supports Google TV. All of this originally started at $1,099.99, but the 55-inch model can now be had for $649.99 ($450 off the MSRP and $50 less than its usual deal price) at Amazon and Best Buy. Also, the 65-inch Hisense U8H is selling for around $928 at Amazon, Walmart, and Best Buy.

While we haven’t officially reviewed the Hisense U8H, our own TV reviewer, Chris Welch, liked it enough to buy one for himself, and if that’s not a real recommendation, I don’t know what is.

Like its predecessor, TCL’s latest 4-Series remains one of the more affordable options on the market. The 2022 model with Roku interface (the S455 variant) offers four HDMI ports — one of which supports eARC for an optional soundbar. At the same time, the LED TV continues to support HDR10, all the major streaming apps, and a standard 60Hz refresh rate.

Best Buy has the 55-inch TCL 4-Series (55S455) for $279.99, a discount of $40 off its regular $319.99 price. While the 4-Series may not have the most coveted specs or highest-quality LED panel in the world, it’s hard to deny that a solid 55-inch TV for under $300 is a great value.

The older 2021 model of the Amazon Fire TV Omni, the precursor to the newer QLED version, is seeing some solid sales. Amazon is discounting the 55-inch Fire TV Omni to $469.99 ($80 off) while the 65-inch version is $599.99 ($160 off). Lastly, the bigger 75-inch model gets the biggest discount at Amazon, as it’s currently $799.99 ($250 off).

The 2021 Fire TV Omni didn’t wow us with its picture quality, but its aggressive pricing and deep Alexa integration, which allows for voice control even when it’s turned off, helped make up for that a bit. If you’re on a budget and aren’t allergic to Amazon pushing its own content, the Omni, at these prices, is worth a look.

Amazon’s newer Fire TV Omni QLED launched in late 2022, and we’re already seeing sizable discounts. It debuted at $799.99 for the 65-inch model but is currently selling for $649.99 at Best Buy and Amazon. We haven’t tested the new QLED model yet, but it seems to build on the last-gen model with a better design. It supports Dolby Vision IQ for HDR — allowing it to adjust itself depending on the amount of ambient light — along with the same hands-free Alexa perks offered by the previous model and local dimming for more realistic lighting in scenes. Sony’s PlayStation 5 and Microsoft’s Xbox Series X can play 4K games with HDR at up to 120 frames per second. So, naturally, if you don’t have a TV that takes full advantage of your console, it might be time to upgrade to one of the models below. Note that, for the best experience, you’ll want a TV that supports HDMI 2.1.

If you’re looking for an impressive TV, we recommend turning your attention to LG’s 2022 C2 model. The 4K TV touts support for Nvidia G-Sync and AMD FreeSync variable refresh rate tech along with a 120Hz refresh rate and low input lag. It also boasts a settings pane dubbed “Game Optimizer,” which conveniently brings together a host of game-centric settings — refresh rate, latency, etc. — for quicker access.

One of the best values right now is on LG’s 48-inch C2, which is going for $849 ($450 off the MSRP) at Amazon and $899.99 at Best Buy (when added to your cart). You can also pick up the 55-inch version for $1,196.99 ($303 off) at Amazon and BuyDig, or the 65-inch version for $1,596.99 ($803 off) through the same retailers (Amazon / BuyDig).

OLED prices aren’t for everyone. If you want something that’ll still look amazing, LG’s Class 83 Series QNED Mini LED lineup offers many of the same perks for less. The Mini LED backlighting allows for better contrast, more brightness, dynamic HDR, and improved color accuracy over LG’s previous LCD TVs. Crucially for gamers, they also have HDMI 2.1 ports with 120Hz support at 4K resolution.

The 65-inch model, which has webOS for built-in streaming apps, is currently discounted to $999.99 at Best Buy. This is $700 off its original price, which is quite the discount. However, if you have the space and budget for going even bigger, the 75-inch version is $1,499.99 ($1,000 off) at Best Buy.
