Travel booking platform Ixigo has announced the acquisition of a 54.66% stake in Brevistay Hospitality Private Limited, a company known for its flexible hotel booking services. The move is part of Ixigo’s strategy to grow its hotel business and increase its focus on artificial intelligence (AI).
The total value of the deal is ₹65.69 crore, including a non-compete fee. The acquisition involves both fresh investment into the company and the purchase of shares from existing shareholders. Once the deal is completed, Brevistay will become a subsidiary of Ixigo.
Ixigo has also secured the option to buy the remaining stake in Brevistay in the future if certain agreed conditions are met. The transaction is expected to be completed on or before July 31, 2026. The company has stated that no government or regulatory approvals are required for the deal.
Brevistay Has Built a Strong Presence in Flexible Hotel Stays
Founded in 2016, Brevistay introduced the concept of micro-stays in India. The platform allows travellers to book hotel rooms for shorter durations such as 3, 6, or 12 hours instead of paying for a full overnight stay.
The idea was created to solve the problem of fixed hotel check-in and check-out timings. Over the years, Brevistay has grown into a large network with more than 10,000 verified hotel partners across 200+ cities. The company says it has served over five million customers so far.
While many early users were couples looking for privacy and convenience, the platform is now widely used by business travellers, students, and passengers with long train or flight layovers who need a place to rest for a few hours.
The company has also reported steady revenue growth. Its unaudited turnover stood at ₹18.10 crore in FY26, compared to ₹12.23 crore in FY25 and ₹8.83 crore in FY24.
Interestingly, Brevistay had once appeared on Shark Tank India but did not receive funding at its requested valuation of ₹60 crore. Later, in 2022, it raised ₹3 crore in seed funding from the Indian Angel Network.
The micro-stay model has benefited both hotels and customers. Hotels can earn extra income by filling rooms that would otherwise remain empty during the day, while travellers can save between 50% and 70% compared to regular room rates.
Why Ixigo Is Interested in Brevistay
Since its stock market debut in June 2024, Ixigo has focused heavily on train and bus ticket bookings, especially among travellers from Tier 2, Tier 3, and Tier 4 cities. This strategy has helped the company build a monthly active user base of around 82 million.
However, the hotel business remains one of the most profitable segments in the online travel industry. By acquiring Brevistay, Ixigo gets immediate access to a network of 10,000 hotels without having to build those partnerships from scratch.
The acquisition is also expected to create cross-selling opportunities. For example, users booking train, bus, or flight tickets through Ixigo can also be offered flexible hotel stays through Brevistay.
This move strengthens Ixigo’s position in the travel market and helps it offer a more complete travel experience to customers.
AI Investments Support Ixigo’s Future Growth Plans
Along with the Brevistay acquisition, Ixigo has approved investments in two AI startups as it continues its push towards becoming an AI-first travel company.
The company will invest ₹7.50 crore in ProactAI for a 10.34% stake. ProactAI works on AI models related to person identification and object tracking.
Ixigo will also invest ₹4.50 crore in Vestra.AI, a startup that develops AI systems capable of managing autonomous AI agents and business workflows.
These investments are closely linked to Ixigo NEXT, the company’s recently launched AI-powered travel platform.
A major feature of the platform is TARA, an upgraded AI travel assistant that supports voice, text, and tap-based interactions in English, Hindi, and Hinglish. The assistant is designed to help travellers with various tasks during their journeys.
Ixigo is also introducing AI-powered travel workflows that can automatically handle activities such as web check-ins, flight delay tracking, sending boarding passes through WhatsApp, and coordinating with hotels before a traveller arrives.
The company has additionally launched HELLO, an AI-based hotel management portal that helps hotel partners manage inventory, pricing, offers, and daily operations more efficiently.
With the Brevistay acquisition and its growing investments in artificial intelligence, Ixigo is aiming to build a stronger travel ecosystem that combines transport bookings, hotel stays, and smart AI-powered services on a single platform.
