Mumbai-based nutrition brand TruNativ has raised $30 million in a Series B funding round led by global healthcare investment firm OrbiMed Advisors LLC. The funding marks a major step for the company as it looks to expand its business and strengthen its presence in India’s growing health and nutrition market.
The round included both fresh investment in the company and the sale of some shares by existing investors. PwC acted as the exclusive financial advisor for the transaction.
Founded in 2019 by mother-son duo Pranav Malhotra and Mamta Malhotra, TruNativ has built a strong reputation by offering clean-label and science-backed nutrition products designed for everyday use. The company says the new capital will help it grow faster, improve product innovation, and reach more consumers across India and overseas markets.
Funds to Support Expansion and Product Development
TruNativ plans to use the newly raised funds to expand its distribution network across multiple channels. The company wants to make its products available to more customers through direct-to-consumer platforms, quick commerce apps, modern retail stores, pharmacies, and traditional offline outlets.
The company will also invest in scaling its B2B2C ingredients business, which supplies nutrition ingredients to several consumer brands in India. This segment has become an important part of TruNativ’s overall growth strategy.
Another key focus area will be research and development. The company plans to set up a new R&D and innovation centre in Mumbai to support the development of new products. TruNativ is looking to introduce more offerings in categories such as protein, gut health, and sweeteners.
CEO Pranav Malhotra said the company will also focus on acquiring new customers and expanding its reach in both domestic and international markets.
From One Product to a Fast-Growing Nutrition Brand
TruNativ started its journey with a sugar-replacement product called Everyday Sweet. Since then, it has expanded into a wider range of nutrition products, including protein supplements, dietary fibre, collagen peptides, and gut health solutions.
One of the company’s most popular products is Everyday Protein, a flavourless and heat-resistant whey protein that can be added to everyday Indian meals without changing the taste. The product was developed to help consumers increase their protein intake in a simple and convenient way.
The company has also built a strong position in the sugar-replacement category and currently holds a significant market share across quick-commerce platforms.
Over the years, TruNativ has partnered with several brands and organisations to increase its visibility. It collaborated with milkshake brand Frozen Bottle to launch protein-rich milkshakes, partnered with Chennaiyin FC, and appointed Bollywood actress Kareena Kapoor Khan as its brand ambassador.
Investor Confidence Grows in India’s Health and Wellness Sector
The latest investment highlights the growing interest of investors in India’s preventive healthcare and nutrition industry. As more consumers focus on healthier lifestyles and better eating habits, demand for nutrition-focused products continues to rise.
Before this funding round, TruNativ had already attracted support from several well-known investors. The company received early backing from 9Unicorns, secured a Rs 10 crore investment from Zerodha’s Rainmatter, and saw FMCG giant Emami acquire a 19% stake in the business.
Speaking about the funding, Pranav Malhotra said India’s move towards better nutrition is more than just a trend. According to him, many consumers have long struggled with high sugar consumption and low protein intake, creating a need for healthier and more effective nutrition products.
Dr. Sunny Sharma, Senior Managing Director at OrbiMed Asia, said the firm shares TruNativ’s vision of improving nutrition and health outcomes through better daily dietary choices.
With fresh funding, a growing product portfolio, and plans to expand its distribution and innovation capabilities, TruNativ is now gearing up for its next phase of growth. The company aims to play a larger role in helping Indian consumers adopt healthier eating habits while building a stronger presence in the nutrition market.
