Artificial intelligence is changing many industries, and physical security is one of the fastest-growing areas. California-based startup Hakimo has raised $12 million in a new funding round, taking its total funding to $32 million. The company is seeing strong demand for its AI-powered security platform, which helps businesses improve safety while reducing security costs.
The new investment will help Hakimo improve its technology, enter new markets, and hire more employees as it continues to grow.
Existing Investors Continue to Support Hakimo
The latest funding round was led by Zigg Capital, a New York-based venture capital firm that invests in companies building the future of real estate and infrastructure. The round also received support from Hakimo’s existing investors, including Neotribe Ventures, Vertex Ventures, Defy.vc, and Rocketship.vc.
Hakimo Co-founder and CEO Sam Joseph said the new funding will help the company grow faster in every area. A major part of the investment will be used to improve the company’s AI platform. While Hakimo is already known for AI-powered security monitoring, it now plans to expand its technology into areas such as workplace safety, regulatory compliance, and customer experience.
The company also plans to strengthen its presence in the real estate industry, enter new business sectors, and expand into international markets. At the same time, Hakimo will hire more people across different teams to meet the growing demand for its services.
Joseph said the opportunity to modernise physical security is huge and the company is still at the beginning of its journey.
Strong Growth in Revenue and Customer Base
Hakimo has seen impressive growth over the past year. The company said its revenue has tripled compared to last year, making it the third year in a row that it has achieved three times annual growth.
Its customer base has also grown to more than 300 organisations. These include Fortune 500 companies, apartment communities, commercial buildings, car dealerships, and other large properties. Today, Hakimo’s AI platform monitors millions of square feet of real estate every day.
To support this rapid growth, the company has doubled its workforce over the last year. It has also strengthened its leadership team by appointing Bret Knobelauch as its new Chief Revenue Officer.
Hakimo works in the growing field of Physical AI. Instead of asking customers to replace their existing security cameras, the company adds AI software to the current camera systems. This makes it easier and more affordable for businesses to upgrade their security without buying new hardware.
According to the company, its AI technology allows one security operator to monitor an area that would normally require around ten people. This helps businesses improve efficiency and reduce labour costs.
New AI Features Aim to Improve Safety
Hakimo recently launched AI-Powered Forensic Search, a feature that helps users quickly search recorded security footage. Instead of watching hours of video manually, users can find important events within seconds, making investigations much faster.
The company also says customers using its platform have reported up to a 60% drop in security incidents from the first day of deployment. Many customers have also reduced their spending on security guards while maintaining better monitoring through AI.
Speaking about the investment, Ryan Orley, Managing Partner at Zigg Capital, said the real estate industry is under pressure to improve safety while controlling costs. He believes Hakimo is building the future of AI-powered physical security.
One of Hakimo’s customers, Rachel Palmer, Chief Administrative Officer at American Landmark Apartments, said the platform has helped her organisation identify potential problems early and take faster action. She added that investing in AI technology is helping the company create safer communities for both residents and employees.
With fresh funding, a growing customer base, and plans to expand into new industries, Hakimo is preparing for its next stage of growth. As more businesses adopt AI-powered solutions, the company hopes to play a bigger role in making physical security smarter, faster, and more efficient.
