Bengaluru-based startup Vobiz.ai has raised $1 million in a seed funding round led by Piper Serica VC Fund. The company is building an AI-first telecom infrastructure platform designed to improve the performance of Voice AI applications.
The funding comes at a time when businesses across industries are increasingly adopting AI-powered voice agents for customer support, collections, sales, and other communication needs. While AI models have become more advanced, many voice applications still face challenges such as delays, poor call quality, and slow response times because they rely on traditional telecom systems.
Founded in 2025 by Suman Gandham and Vikash Srivastava, Vobiz.ai aims to solve these problems by creating a telecom network built specifically for AI-driven conversations.
A Shift from AI Applications to Telecom Infrastructure
The idea for Vobiz.ai came from the founders’ own experience. Before launching the company, they were building AI voice agents for businesses in the banking and financial services sector. During this process, they realised that the main challenge was not the AI technology itself but the telecom infrastructure supporting it.
Most existing telecom platforms were originally designed for human-operated call centres. These systems often involve multiple routing steps, which can create delays during calls. When AI is added to the process, the conversation can feel slow and unnatural.
To address this issue, the founders decided to build their own infrastructure. They launched Vobiz.ai in late 2025 with the goal of making AI voice conversations faster and more reliable.
The company says its technology reduces telephony latency to less than 80 milliseconds by using direct carrier connections and a simplified routing system. It has also reduced post-dial delays, helping calls connect more quickly.
Another key feature is real-time interruption handling, often called “barge-in.” This allows users to interrupt the AI while it is speaking, making conversations feel more natural and human-like.
Strong Growth Driven by Rising Voice AI Adoption
Since its launch, Vobiz.ai has grown rapidly. The startup reports more than 80% month-on-month growth and now handles over one million calls every day.
The platform has attracted more than 5,000 developers and maintains a customer retention rate of 98%. In its early days, most of its customers were AI startups building voice-based products. However, demand from larger enterprises has increased significantly.
Today, businesses in sectors such as fintech, lending, logistics, and real estate are using the platform for tasks like customer verification, loan collections, EMI reminders, lead generation, and customer support.
According to the company, organisations using AI-powered voice solutions can reduce costs compared to traditional call centre operations while handling a larger number of customer interactions.
Vobiz.ai earns revenue through telecom number provisioning, usage-based call billing, and additional services such as call transcription, call streaming, and answering machine detection. The company expects these value-added services to become an important part of its future revenue.
Funding to Support Expansion and Product Development
The newly raised capital will help Vobiz.ai expand its business over the next 12 to 18 months.
The startup plans to invest in engineering and product development to strengthen its technology platform. It also aims to increase its inventory of Direct Inward Dialing (DID) numbers, allowing customers to quickly access local phone numbers across more than 190 countries.
In addition to growing its presence in India, the company plans to expand into markets across the Middle East, Africa, Asia-Pacific, and Europe. Entering the United States is also part of its long-term strategy.
A portion of the funding will be used to develop enterprise-focused tools, including compliance automation, real-time monitoring systems, dashboards, and reporting features.
While the company has built compliance tools into its platform, managing telecom regulations remains a challenge, especially in markets with strict regulatory requirements.
Looking ahead, Vobiz.ai plans to go beyond voice communication. The company is already working on WhatsApp integrations and intends to add support for SMS and Rich Communication Services (RCS) in the future.
As Voice AI adoption continues to grow worldwide, Vobiz.ai is positioning itself as a key infrastructure provider for businesses looking to build faster, more natural, and more reliable AI-powered communication experiences.
