India’s electric two-wheeler market regained momentum in May 2026, with several leading brands reporting strong sales growth. Among them, Ola Electric stood out with a sharp 22% month-on-month rise in registrations, signaling a recovery after a slow April. At the same time, Bajaj Auto continued its strong run, narrowing the gap with market leader TVS Motor.
The overall electric two-wheeler segment recorded healthy growth during the month, helped by rising fuel prices and increasing consumer interest in affordable mobility options. Industry estimates suggest registrations crossed 1.49 lakh units in May, marking a significant improvement from the previous month.
Ola Electric Makes a Strong Comeback
Ola Electric registered over 13,000 units in May and returned to the top five EV brands in the country. The company benefited from improving demand and growing interest in electric scooters as petrol prices remained high.
Ola recently introduced its MoveOS 5 software update, bringing new features focused on range, customization, and rider experience. The company is also preparing to launch a commercial electric vehicle aimed at delivery and gig-economy workers, a segment that continues to grow rapidly in India.
The strong recovery comes as a positive sign for Ola, which had faced pressure from increasing competition in recent months.
Bajaj Gains Ground on TVS in EV Race
While TVS Motor retained its position as the country’s largest electric two-wheeler manufacturer, Bajaj Auto moved closer to the top spot. Bajaj registered more than 34,000 units during the month and continued to gain market share through its popular Chetak electric scooter lineup.

The company recently refreshed the Chetak range with new variants and faster charging capabilities, helping it attract more buyers. TVS, meanwhile, maintained a strong performance with over 38,000 registrations, supported by its growing dealer network and consistent product demand.
With fuel prices rising and electric vehicle adoption increasing across India, competition among leading EV brands is expected to intensify in the coming months. For now, Ola’s rebound and Bajaj’s steady rise have made the Indian electric two-wheeler market more competitive than ever.
