Lenskart has once again grabbed investors’ attention after SoftBank sold part of its stake in the company through a large block deal worth ₹2,873 crore. The transaction reflects strong market confidence in the eyewear company, even as concerns around valuation and regulatory matters remain.
SoftBank Makes Partial Exit
On June 3, 2026, SoftBank Group’s affiliate SVF II Lightbulb (Cayman) Ltd sold 5.65 crore Lenskart shares on the NSE. The deal represented a 3.25% stake and was completed at an average price of ₹508.55 per share.
After the sale, SoftBank’s holding in Lenskart dropped from 13.13% to 9.88%. The investment firm has earned an estimated seven times return on its original investment made in 2019. Even after this sale, SoftBank continues to hold a sizeable stake in the company.
Big Investors Buy the Shares
Several well-known global and Indian institutions purchased shares in the block deal. These included Goldman Sachs, Fidelity, WhiteOak Capital, Quant Mutual Fund, ICICI Prudential and HDFC Life Insurance.
The smooth completion of the transaction shows that investors remain positive about Lenskart’s future growth. Following the deal, Lenskart shares closed at ₹515.90, down 1.58% for the day. The company still commands a market value of nearly ₹90,000 crore.
Strong Revenue Growth in FY26
Lenskart continued its growth momentum in FY26. The company reported revenue of more than ₹8,800 crore and achieved a record net profit of ₹500.95 crore.
In the January-March 2026 quarter, revenue rose 45.6% year-on-year to ₹2,516 crore. However, quarterly profit fell slightly because of higher taxes, rising inventory costs and increased spending on customer acquisition.
International Business Becomes a Key Growth Driver
Global markets are becoming increasingly important for Lenskart. International operations contributed 42% of the company’s FY26 revenue and turned profitable in the fourth quarter.
Acquisitions such as Japan-based Owndays and Spain-based sunglasses brand Meller have helped expand Lenskart’s global reach. The company is also investing in new manufacturing facilities and AI-powered products, including smart glasses.
Challenges Remain Despite Positive Outlook
While Lenskart’s growth story remains strong, some analysts have raised concerns about its high valuation, lease-related liabilities and dependence on continuous expansion. The company is also facing franchisee-related complaints and a FEMA-linked investigation.
Despite these concerns, major brokerage firms remain bullish on the stock. Several have maintained “Buy” ratings, citing Lenskart’s strong brand, profitable store model and growing international presence as key strengths.
