The electric mobility sector in India continues to attract investor interest, and premium EV cab startup Trevel is the latest entrant to secure fresh funding for its expansion plans. Operated by Inwisement Technologies Pvt Ltd, Trevel has raised $1 million in a funding round co-led by India Accelerator, Finvolve, the Haldiram Family Office, and serial entrepreneur Rohit Qamra.
The Gurugram-based company is positioning itself as a premium electric cab-hailing service designed to bridge the gap between traditional ride-hailing platforms and luxury chauffeur-driven travel. Founded by Sahil Jindal, Mishu Ahluwalia, Nagarjun KR, and Rishi Raj Kochhar, the startup aims to build a sustainable and profitable mobility business while focusing on customer experience and operational efficiency.
The fresh capital will support fleet expansion, technology development, marketing initiatives, and improvements in operational systems as the company prepares for its next stage of growth.
Trevel Bets on a Self-Managed Fleet Model
Unlike most ride-hailing platforms that rely heavily on gig workers and driver-partners, Trevel follows a completely self-managed fleet strategy. All drivers employed by the company are on a monthly payroll, giving the startup greater control over service quality and customer experience.
The company believes this model can address some of the most common concerns faced by passengers, including ride cancellations, fare disputes, and inconsistent service standards. Since drivers are full-time employees, adherence to company policies becomes a part of their professional responsibilities rather than a platform requirement.
Trevel currently operates a fleet featuring the MG Windsor EV, a premium electric crossover utility vehicle. The company has chosen these vehicles to deliver a more comfortable travel experience, especially for business professionals and frequent commuters. Spacious interiors, reclining rear seats, air purification systems, and other passenger-focused features form a key part of its service offering.
While Trevel presently owns its vehicles, it plans to gradually adopt a hybrid ownership structure. Under this strategy, around 20% of vehicles will remain company-owned, while the remaining 80% will be acquired through leasing arrangements. This approach is expected to help the startup maintain an asset-light model while scaling operations more efficiently.
Focus on Premium Mobility, Technology and Passenger Safety
Trevel currently offers city rides, airport transfers, and hourly rental services. The company is also preparing to launch intercity travel options in the near future.
One of its key differentiators is a scheduled booking system supported by AI-powered route optimisation and fleet management technology. The startup claims to provide fixed and transparent pricing without surge charges, allowing customers to know their travel costs in advance.
To further enhance customer convenience, Trevel provides amenities such as complimentary drinking water, newspapers, and hand sanitiser inside its vehicles. The company is positioning itself as a business-class travel solution rather than a conventional taxi service.
Safety remains another major focus area. Every driver undergoes police verification and extensive background checks before joining the platform. Vehicles are equipped with AI-enabled dashcams that monitor driving behaviour, speed patterns, and potential risk indicators during trips.
Additionally, multiple tracking systems allow real-time monitoring of journeys. Passengers can share live location updates with family members, adding an extra layer of security during travel. Trevel is also developing a new version of its mobile application, which is expected to offer improved user experience, faster performance, and enhanced tracking capabilities.
Expansion Plans Backed by Growing Customer Demand
Trevel’s funding round comes at a time when demand for premium electric mobility solutions is growing in urban India. The company believes there is a significant opportunity to serve customers looking for reliable and comfortable transportation while also supporting environmentally sustainable travel.
Since launching operations in Gurugram, Trevel has reportedly completed more than 5,000 rides and recorded a customer repeat rate exceeding 70%. The strong repeat usage suggests growing acceptance of its premium EV-based service model among urban commuters.
Looking ahead, the startup plans to add approximately 25 vehicles every month. Its immediate goal is to build a fleet of around 500 luxury electric vehicles across the Delhi NCR region over the coming years.
The company’s long-term vision is even more ambitious. By 2030, Trevel aims to operate a fleet of 20,000 vehicles across major metropolitan markets including Delhi, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Mumbai, and Pune. It is also targeting service delivery to more than 50,000 passengers every month and an annual revenue run rate exceeding ₹2,000 crore.
As competition in India’s EV mobility space intensifies, Trevel’s focus on premium service, salaried drivers, technology-driven operations, and sustainable growth could help it carve out a distinct position in the evolving ride-hailing market. With fresh funding now secured, the startup is set to accelerate its expansion journey while strengthening its presence in the premium electric mobility segment.
